Metamorphosis(written by Franz Kafka) is a story about a young man who, after being turned into a big beetle-like insect over night, becomes a source of embarrassment to his family, an outsider in his own house, and a man who is profoundly estranged. A painful (but absurdly funny) study on human feelings of inadequacy, remorse, and isolation. This type of situation is often regarded as typical of Kafka’s writing that scholars came up with a word for it-”Kafkaesque”. Kafka is infamous for writing such dark and disturbing novels. His dark writing style was influenced by the strained relationship he had with his father, failed relationships, alienation, and low self-esteem.

It is very evident from his works that he never essentially understood how society worked. It was unnecessarily complicated. In today’s world, we rely on increasingly convoluted systems of administration that have real consequences on every aspect of our lives. We find ourselves being judged for every action that we do. But again, the world we live in is the one we created. We have the power to change it for the better.
